A mild growing climate, two universities, farmer's markets, sawmills and wineries are just some of the attractions
I want to tell Countryside readers about the Finger Lakes area of central New York state. I live about 25 miles north of Ithaca, New York, between Seneca and Cayuga Lakes. There is immense variety here in climate and landscape. To the south of me is rolling, wooded country, growing more rolling and wooded, and colder, as you go further south, until you end up in the "mountains" along the Pennsylvania-New York border.
