The game, in its simplest form, is a test of endurance. Major League Baseball essentially is played every day, for at least six consecutive months of the year, with few days off. It is designed to break a man's body, his mind, his spirit.
Maybe it is no wonder, then, that the players chose to strike back.
One year after implementing its first-ever steroid policy, Major League Baseball will play in 2006 and beyond under an amphetamines ban as well. Gone now are all of the game's unseen "little helpers" - at least in theory - leaving major leaguers to fight fairly, to take on alone the challenges of the regular season ...
