Smith Barney seems to have leaped over the last hurdle on its way to winning over former Legg Mason advisers. The test came on President's Day weekend. Several, but apparently not many, big producers left for other firms.

That weekend also marked Smith Barney's integration of client accounts and technology systems following Citigroup's purchase of Legg's retail brokerage unit.
