A CLAIM for compensation by Wednesbury families, flooded due to faulty drainage, has proved a wash-out.
The gardens of five properties in Poplar Road, Wednesbury, were left under about a foot of water after it poured from neighbouring allotments owned by Sandwell Council.
Residents claimed drainage channels were blocked on the overgrown land.
Ian Lawrence, whose garden was the worst affected, had to hire a pump to clear foul-smelling water which was infested by rats.
The families had made a claim to Sandwell Council for compensation to cover the hire of the pump and damage to fencing.
