Sioux Falls, S.D. -- Without breaking her stride, a woman glared at Justin Huck as he approached her outside the Minnehaha County Courthouse last week and asked her to sign a petition to let voters decide on South Dakota's new abortion ban.
Be ashamed, she told him.
For a moment, the 26-year-old collegian from Spearfish shelved his "we're all South Dakotans" smile and glared back.
"Are you afraid to put it to a vote?" he asked the woman. But she had disappeared into the courthouse, leaving Huck to retrieve his smile and approach another citizen: Nicole Jellema, 26, eight months pregnant, who smiled ...
