Joseph Malmquist directs the orchestra program at Conant High School in Schaumburg, as well as the Schaumburg Youth Symphony. What drives the success of both, he says, is his own seat in the Elgin Symphony Orchestra.
For 25 years Malmquist has played first violin. He will take his place Friday when the Elgin Symphony Orchestra comes to Schaumburg's Prairie Center for the Arts as part of its five- concert series.
