Academics should be competitive, too

As a junior at Naperville North High School, I feel that the thought of eliminating class rank for our class is completely absurd. The decision is being made by a group of out-of-touch parents, and not by those to whom the choice actually matters - the students.

Academic competition is not a bad thing. In fact, it inspires some of North's most promising students to continually study (and I mean continually; many top students frequently retire around 1 a.m.), and constantly work harder and harder to overtake the person in front of them, or simply maintain their rank.
