SEOUL, April 5 (Yonhap) -- South Korea's exports of machine tools ranked sixth in the global market last year, a US industry report showed Wednesday.

The country's overseas shipments of machine tools amounted to US$1.16 billion in 2005, according to the report from manufacturing publication Gardner Publication Inc. The global machine tool exports for last year stood at $28.7 billion, it said. Japan ranked first with $6.46 billion, trailed by Germany and Italy with $6.2 billion and $2.8 billion, respectively.
