Recognizing the urgency of the false alarm problem in the security alarm industry, the board of directors of the National Burglar & Fire Alarm Association (NBFAA) of Bethesda, MD, has adopted a special program designed to reduce substantially the number of false alarms.
The False Alarm Reduction Fast Start Program was unanimously approved on August 26. Designed to "reduce demand on limited police resources and enhance the effectiveness of all alarm systems," the program suggests comprehensive steps to be taken by alarm installers, users, manufacturers, and police to lower the frequency of false alarms.
