NEW YORK -- Christian Louboutin recently flew into town on a whirlwind visit to solidify plans for his first shop in the U.S., scheduled to open here in September.
The young French designer, famous in fashion circles around the world for his LOVE connection shoes (there is a LO on one foot, a VE on the other), is acting as his own architect and interior designer for the store. He is busily drawing on the walls of the store at 30 East 67th St. to illustrate exactly how he wants them to look. "I have to be in it to understand it," Louboutin emphasized. "It's like the telephone. I can't speak if I don't know the person."
