When you're not among the top-three magazines in your field, you try hardest. That's the story at Meeting News, the tabloid-size Miller Freeman Inc. title covering the professional travel and convention business, which is fighting to regain its number-three spot in the crowded convention-planners magazine field. Judging solely by ad pages, MN has a long way to go to catch the leaders.
The category's perennial ad leader, Reed Publishing USA's monthly Meetings & Conventions, saw ad pages hold steady last year at 1,811. The number-two book, Bill Communications' Successful Meetings, had its most successful year ever, gaining 212 ad pages for a total of 1,796.
