Apr. 6--Starting this weekend, voters in Northampton County will have several opportunities to try out the electronic voting machines the county hopes to use in the May primary election.
Voting officials, volunteers and the League of Women Voters will demonstrate the machines, aiming to ease concerns about how they work so voters do not feel awkward or intimidated at the polls.
To comply with a federal voting law, the county is replacing the lever machines it has used for decades. It has ordered 600 WINvote electronic machines from Advanced Voting Solutions in Frisco, Texas.
