Coast Guard taps woman for No. 2 post.

Apr. 6--PORTSMOUTH -- Vice Admiral Vivien S. Crea, who has headed the Coast Guard's largest command for nearly two years, has been tapped to become vice commandant, the second highest ranking officer in the service. If confirmed by the Senate, Crea would become the first woman to ascend to such a high military post among all of the uniformed services. Crea is a former pilot who put on her third star when she assumed command of the Coast Guard's Atlantic Area and Maritime Defense Zone Atlantic here on July 16, 2004.
