Recreational venues take center stage in Elk City, OK, located in the west-central quadrant of the state. The city boasts seven parks, various sports facilities, a rodeo arena, and other active amenities to please its population of 10,492 residents, as well as a steady stream of tourists.
Plans for 2006 include adding finishing touches to a new skate park, located on the west side of the city's Ackley Park. City workers added initial skateboard ramps at the end of 2005, and ramps for advanced skaters will be installed in the early months of 2006.
