I am a recent convert to the pleasures of wine, but I am not an oenophile. Mainly because I do not drink oeno. No one has ever offered me a nice 1998 Australian Oeno - fruity, with hints of oak and rubber - and I do not expect they will. Consequently I lack the knowledge of which glass goes with the proper wine. As I understand it, the long-stemmed glasses prevent the palm from changing the temperature of the wine - something I could understand if you had a fever of 104; otherwise, it seems a bit much. Tall stems make the glasses good for two things: tipping over when the table's bumped, and snapping off in the dishwasher. Me, I ...
