Apr. 7--BETHANY -- Siegfried "Siegi" Ballul never thought he'd be able to own a bakery in Germany, so he came to a country where he thought his dreams could rise.

"I came to America," Ballul said proudly, sitting in Clark's Pastry Shop & Deli nearly 51 years after moving to the United States.

Ballul began working at the pastry shop in 1956, 10 years after T. Ray Clark opened the store at 6744 NW 39 Expressway -- the same location Clark's has been for 60 years. Ballul's dream of owning a bakery became reality in 1968 when he purchased the Bethany shop from Clark.
