A growth control initiative adopted by the voters of Douglas County limiting the number of permits for new dwelling units to 280 per year was consistent with the county's master plan, the Nevada Supreme Court has ruled (Sustainable Growth Initiative Committee v. Jumpers, LLC, No. 41118, Feb. 9, 2006).
In 2002, the voters of Douglas County, south of Carson City, adapted the Sustainable Growth Initiative (SGI) by a 53 percent to 47 percent margin.
