Amakusa Shiro of Japan was one such person. He might have been even braver than others--after all, he was just a boy of 16 when he led 37,000 people in a rebellion against their persecutors.

Shiro was born Shirotokisada Masuda more than 400 years ago.

He was only 15 when he became a legend. He was known for his intelligence and good looks. He was a brilliant young writer who began reading at the age of 5. Some say he walked on water and performed other miracles.
