PROJECT OVERVIEW:
A Japanese/Thai joint venture was recently established in view of building several petrochemical plants in the country. The partners in the planned projects include Japan-based ASAHI CHEMICALS (AKCC), a subsidiary of ASAHI KASEI (AK) and the local PPT PLC.
Construction plans under consideration call for building an acrylonitrile, methyl methacrilate (MMA) plant and polymethyl methacrilate (PMMA) factory. As things currently stand, negotiations have reached an advanced stage and a final decision is soon expected to be made.
