Apr. 9--Santa Fe Public Schools is facing a $5 million budget deficit for the next school year, and school officials are trying to find ways to come up with the money. The state recently told districts in New Mexico how much money they will receive for the next school year. Santa Fe will get about $76 million, but its proposed budget is more than $10 million higher -- about $86.5 million. The district plans to cover about half the shortfall by tapping its cash reserve.
