French mobile operator SFR said on Friday it plans to appeal a ruling made by regulator ARCEP that it must allow small regional service provider Afone to use its network to provide virtual mobile services.

SFR had previously refused to open its network to Afone on the grounds that it had no spare capacity to offer. Afone now plans to launch national mobile services, said a spokesman for the company, who confirmed ARCEP's judgement in its favour.
