What the Naperville Park District could use is a "fat fee." It would be a fitting way for the district to self-support a new $35 million recreation center it has in the works.
After all, one of the reasons the district needs this recreation center is to battle obesity, according to park board president Kristin Jungles. So, those who can pinch more than an inch - more like grab a yard of lard - could be charged an annual recreation center fitness fee set at a penny per pound per day. Add incentives. One cent less for each centimeter of cellulite lost; a quarter off for containing the flow over the trousers.
