An Arlington Heights church on Sunday was transformed into Jerusalem, as hundreds watched the reenactment of Jesus Christ's journey to the cross on Palm Sunday.
Alberto Contreras portrayed Jesus and led a group of palm-waving parishioners from St. Thomas in Palatine to Mision San Juan Diego Catholic Church in Arlington Heights. Like other suburban Christians, the Spanish-speaking church members marked the start of the religion's Holy Week with the Palm Sunday re-enactment.
