Apr. 9--ROGUE RIVER -- The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department is throwing its weight behind a proposed recreation corridor along the Rogue River between Grants Pass and Central Point.

State parks officials said they could provide technical assistance for planning, grant writing, and complying with environmental regulations, and perhaps even supply state funds for land acquisition along some portions of the route.

Parks Director Tim Wood said he was impressed by local enthusiasm for the project, which would create a path for pedestrians and bicyclists along the river and connect parks and public lands along the route.
