Apr. 11--SALEM -- Donors large and small have given $5 million to campaigns for and against Gov. Ted Kulongoski's re-election this year, providing the money needed for a hard-fought advertising campaign before the May 16 primary.
Republicans Kevin Mannix and Ron Saxton reported raising the most money since fall 2004, with Mannix raising slightly more than Kulongoski. The three each reported raising more than $800,000 in the past seven months. Saxton leads all candidates in fundraising with nearly $1.7 million.
While each of those three candidates has big-ticket supporters, none of them can match Mannix's biggest backer. Loren ...
