Apr. 11--An "epidemic of fake news infiltrating local television broadcasts" infected at least two Ohio media outlets in the past 10 months, a study reports.
In "Fake TV News: Widespread and Undisclosed," released last week, the Center for Media Democracy and Free Press blasted 77 TV newsrooms nationwide -- including the Ohio News Network and WSYX-TV (Channel 6) -- for having used all or part of video news releases created by corporate publicists without proper disclosure of the source. ONN and WSYX were each cited for one instance.
