Apr. 12--Eileen McCafferty DiFranco, a Philadelphia resident and a lifelong Catholic, feels so strongly about becoming a priest that she is even willing to risk being excommunicated to achieve that goal.
On July 31, DiFranco will take part in a ceremony in Pittsburgh at which organizers say she will be ordained as a priest by three "female bishops" from Austria, Germany and South Africa. The Roman Catholic Church, however, strongly discourages such ordinations and says they are invalid.
