THE home of Scotland's first Open Championship is threatening to block the sale of historic golf papers it claims were stripped from its archives.
The records from Prestwick Golf Club are valued at [pounds sterling]143,500 and are being sold by a US collector through a British agent.
They include a letter inviting clubs to send professionals to compete in the first Open held at Prestwick in Ayrshire in 1860 and a lunch receipt from the championship from Old Tom Morris, one of the game's most revered names.
