Makers of Cornish pasties are becoming increasingly frustrated as a result of Defra's continued silence over whether it plans to support their bid for Protected Geographical Indication status.
The Cornish Pasty Association, which has 42 members including major branded supplier Ginsters, was expecting to hear from Defra earlier this month after the consultation period was extended to the end of February. The extension was believed to have been granted at the request of Northern Foods.
