China's Henry Ford goes by the name of Shufu Li. You'll see his handiwork on American roads by 2008--if he s lucky. Like good old Henry Ford, Li believes in making his luck. In fact, the name of his operation in Hangzhou, China, is the Geely Automobile Company. Geely is a Chinese phrase that means "I am lucky."

In January, Li generated more than a little buzz at the annual Detroit Auto Show. There the Geely chairman showed off his 7151 CK, a third-generation model of his main product in China. He wants to enter the U.S. market with a fifth-generation model.
