The ardor of partnering's advocates is often matched by a deep skepticism of the unconverted. This comes about despite the fact that the converted appear to outnumber the unconverted (on paper at least) by about three to one.
Judging from the surveying PURCHASING has been doing around the country for the past four years, the best explanation is that there is a small group of purchasing professionals completely dedicated to partnering, a small core of skeptics at the other end of the spectrum, and a large group of purchasing people who voice acceptance of partnering in principle. For this larger group, moving from principle to practice is a slow process.
