RUBIN BELIEVED his Love Scale (1970) could be subdivided into dependence, helpfulness, and absorption and that his Liking Scale (1970) could be subdivided into respect and similarity. Hendrick and Hendrick (1986) measured six factors that corresponded to Lee's (1976) lovestyles: Eros (physical attraction), Mania (dependent love), Storge (friendship), Pragma (practical love), Agape (altruistic love), and Ludus (noncommital love). Five of these lovestyles resemble Rubin's five components: dependence (Mania), helpfulness (Agape), absorption (Eros), respect (Pragma), and similarity (Storge).
