Apr. 16--Shortly before he ascended into heaven, Christ instructed his disciples to spread the word of salvation, according to the Bible. His words: Go and preach the good news to everyone in the world. Anyone who believes in me and is baptized will be saved. Anyone who refuses to believe in me will be condemned. With that, the religious ritual of baptism by water became part of Christianity's Great Commission, according to the biblical passage Mark 16:15-16.
