Dear Carol: A recent column of yours said, "And hydrangeas are probably the most confusing of all plants, with the possible exception of clematis."
I planted a clematis last spring. First, I started to train it up and across my chain-link fence in the back yard where it would get a lot of sun. Then I found the arbor I wanted and broke several branches trying to move the branches to the arbor. Then a helper raked too vigorously and too closely.
If it grows this year, can you be more specific on the care, including when to prune and winter care? I've seen some beautiful clematis plants and would ...
