Parents are being urged to control children's consumption of Easter eggs this weekend as new analysis reveals they can put on half a stone by eating a handful.

Experts said parents must not worry about being killjoys as children risk rapid weight gain and even becoming addicted to chocolate by over-indulging.

Eating five Easter eggs, plus the bars included with them, could see youngsters:
