A GROWING coalition of farm groups from 51 countries said governments must not cave in to the demands of agricultural exporters that they claim are dominating World Trade Organization talks.
"Less than 10% of agricultural production is actually traded on the world market, and any expansion in this trade will benefit only a few countries," according to the coalition, which is made up of farm groups from East and West Africa, Japan, South Korea, India, Indonesia, Sri Lanka, Canada, the European Union, Norway, Switzerland, Iceland, the U.S. and Nicaragua.
