Apr. 5--Labor Party chairman MK Amir Perez, slated for the defense portfolio, revealed last night that he had reached an understanding with Acting Prime Minister Ehud Olmert to raise the minimum wage incrementally. The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Title IV Consultation with Israel, published on March 1, agrees with Ministry of Finance and Bank of Israel officials that Israel's minimum wage could gradually be raised, although not to $1,000 a month, as Perez promised in his election campaign.
