Since it was hailed as the second best country in Europe for property investment by ITV's A Place In The Sun - thanks largely to EU membership in 2003 which lifted the ban on foreign property ownership - Poland has caught the eye of British investors.

Curiously, it is not the capital city Warsaw that is attracting the most attention but Poland's historic second city, Krakow. The city combines investment potential with the beauty of a medieval centre which, unlike Warsaw, was spared Second World War bombardment because Hitler fancied it as his future home.
