Introduction
Safe and effective administration of first and second dose intravenous antibiotics in the community is an important aspect of nursing care. Examination of current literature and recent nursing practice is needed to respond to the increasing expectation for our community service to administer intravenous antibiotics in the community. The purpose of this article is to report a literature review which aimed to discern a process of safe and effective medication management within a community nursing setting for first and second dose intravenous antibiotic therapy (IAT).
