Custer, S.D. -- Two gobblers strolled out of the woods and into the sun-splashed pasture.
Nestled against a tree at the edge of the field surrounded by rolling hills, rugged rock outcrops and a forest of pines, Tom Kalahar spotted the birds heading his way.
Clad head-to-toe in camouflage and cradling his 12-gauge shotgun, he gave a call mimicking a hen turkey and got the response he coveted: a gobble that echoed over the landscape.
"There's nothing more exciting," said Kalahar, 52, of Olivia, Minn., a turkey-hunting addict.
