AS THE twentieth anniversary of Chernobyl approaches next week, proposals for more nuclear power stations in Britain are reviving fears over safety.
On April 26, 1986, the world's worst nuclear power accident occurred at Chernobyl in the former U.S.S.R. as a result of neglected safety procedures.
Thirty people died instantly. Yesterday, Greenpeace released new figures suggesting that an additional 93,000 deaths from cancer were attributable to it. Among those stranded in the area at the time was the student daughter of best-selling author and former TV presenter Moyra Bremner (author of the book the book Genetic Engineering).
