Two cities claim the canal - and the cash it brings
Truth be told, the Erie Canal does not stretch "from Albany to Buffalo," as the old song says. But have no fear, several state legislators are trying to set the record straight, the Albany Times Union reported Tuesday.
According to the state Canal Law, the waterway runs from Waterford in Saratoga Country to Tonawanda in Erie County, which kind of spoils the song's rhythm. It also keeps millions of federal dollars for the canal out of Albany and Buffalo.
