ANONYMOUS
What man so quick and clever of wit
To divine who it is who drives me on my course
When I arise in my strength and sudden fury,
Threatening hugely, throwing myself about,
Bursting across country, burning men's houses
And sacking their dwellings? Dark smoke
Rises above the roofs. Roaring is on the earth,
The sudden death of men. When I move the forest,
The flourishing groves, I fell the trees;
The powers above dispatch me to wander
Far on my range, roofed in with the waters.
I have on my back what buried the forms
Of dwellers on earth deep in ocean,
Body and soul. Say who hides me
Or how I am called who carry ...
