It's about time the Government introduced a mandatory licensing scheme

The Government's refusal to introduce licensing of estate agents is incomprehensible, particularly after the scams uncovered by the BBC's recent Whistleblower programme.

With the introduction of compulsory Home Information Packs next June, the Government is giving estate agents an unprecedented opportunity to dominate the entire home buying and selling process, which could cost intermediaries loss of mortgage and insurance business.

Yet estate agents are the one group of individuals in the buying and selling process who are unregulated.
