Apr. 20--La Crosse County's population continues to grow, but the county is not attracting new residents as it once did.

A new Census Bureau report shows that unlike most nearby counties, more Americans are moving out of La Crosse than moving in.

However, La Crosse County experienced a surge in foreign immigrants that more than made up for the small loss of U.S. residents to other places.

The estimates might indicate a new trend for this decade compared with the 1990s, when the county saw a net increase in new residents.

Overall, La Crosse County gained an estimated 1,276 residents between 2000 and 2004, ...
