She may be 80 today, but the Queen has set foot inside a pub on only two occasions during her reign.
The first time, in 1981, was when she was stranded by snowdrifts in Gloucestershire and had to take refuge in a room above a bar. Visit number two came as result of the new-style public engagements introduced after the death of Princess Diana.
In March 1998, she popped into the Bridge Inn at Topsham in Devon ( a 16th Century, Grade II-listed pub which has been in the same family for more than 100 years.
