The first three months of 2006 have seen a significant increase in the incidence of 'cyber-blackmail ', according to a new report from Kaspersky Lab. The report, 'Malware Evolution: January to March 2006', written by Kaspersky Lab's senior virus analysts, cites a number of cases where remote malicious users have moved away from 'stealth use' of infected computers - stealing personal data, using computers as part of zombie networks, etc - to direct blackmailing of victims.
