NO DOUBT it is a traveller's cliche to take your children to the same foreign venues of your past and try to relive it through them, but my daughter Freya's 18th birthday was approaching and, on impulse, I decided to take her to Paris.
She can bring a friend, I thought, and I will give them the great time I should have had myself in the Seventies, had the conditions been right.
