We all know that Key West is famous for its frozen margaritas (a la Jimmy Buffett) and its Key lime pies. We know that Ernest Hemingway and Zane Grey lived and fished there, and foodies may even know chef Norman Van Aiken got his toes in the kitchen (not to mention the sand) at Louie's Backyard. We've heard the Keys are called the Conch Republic and once tried to break away from the United States. But that's about all most of us know about the food and history of Key West.
