Apr. 24--School and I were never the very best of friends. Even now, as I wake up in my AARP T-shirt after a good night's sleep, I am thrilled that the coming day will not include a visit to school.
This whole thing gets complicated, though, when you toss in the fact that I truly enjoy the company of teachers, and I love learning things, as long as they don't involve math or memorizing names or dates.
That, too, has been true all my life. Even as I was refusing to master the week's spelling words, or complete a page of long-division, I loved getting into a conversation with my teacher about American history or why you ...
